MANGROVE TREES "(MIKOKO)" Mangrove trees live along shores, rivers and estuaries in the tropics and subtropics. Mangroves are remarkably tough due to live on muddy soil but sometimes also grow on peat, coral rock and sand. They live in water up to 100 times saltier than most other plants can tolerate. Mangroves trees (mikoko) is capable of capture carbon, filter salt water, stop strong waves from ocean and provide fish breeding site. Mangrove trees in Tanzania its found alongside the coastal areas (shores) from Mtwara to Tanga and around Unguja, Pemba and Mafia Islands, but human activities such as charcoal making in the coastal areas lead destruction and disappearance of Mangrove vegetation along the shore of Tanzania.
